SUCCESSFUL NIGHT CELEBRATING DISABILITY SPORT

The 2015 Hull & East Riding Disability Sport Awards were a resounding success, with 300 people packing out the KC Stadium to celebrate disabled athletes and those that support them.

Winners were crowned in 14 categories, including Robert Awty who won the PSB Construction Services to Disability Sports award. Robert was nominated for his dedication to disabled sport across the region, for which he has taken on many different roles including player, coach, committee member and safeguarding officer.

His nomination said: “His dedication to the future of disability sports is a joy to see, his love of disability sports has also given so many people a brighter future and a meaning to their lives.”

It was a fantastic event, organised by Daryl Jones, of Wheelchair Sports Hull, who did a tremendous job. There is so much talent in the city that would otherwise go unrecognised, not to mention the dedicated professionals that support disabled athletes.

The event raised over £6000, which will go back into supporting local people and projects.

PBS was proud to play a small part in the event, as part of our dedication to supporting local community and charity projects.
