GENERAL OVERVIEW
The objective of this scheme was to improve pedestrian links from Northallerton High Street to the new Treadmills development. The works were located in four areas across the town centre; New Row Ginnel, Central Arcade Ginnel, Elder Road and Zetland Street.
NEW ROW GINNEL
- Removal of existing pre-cast concrete/stone flags and installation of York stone paving slabs
- Demolition of existing breeze block wall and replacement with random cobble/brick wall
- Installation of new doormat features
CENTRAL ARCADE GINNEL
- Removal of existing pre-cast concrete flags and installation of York stone paving slabs
- Removal of pre-cast concrete bollard and replacement with cast-iron bollard
- Installation of new doormat features
ELDER ROAD
- Installation of dropped tactile crossing points
- Extension of footways
- Installation of new kerb and channel line
- Refresh road markings
ZETLAND STREET
- Widening of footway on both sides of the carriageway
- Maintenance and realignment of drainage system
- Resurfacing of carriageway
- Installation of road markings
- Installation of taxi rank, parking bays and loading bays
- Removal of fence line and replacement with random cobble/brick wall
- Installation and planting of tree pits and trees
