Lowgate Paving Scheme

  • Client: Hull City Council
  • Location: Lowgate, Hull
  • Value: £560,000
  • Period: October 2021 – April 2022

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Reconstruction of east and west footways with new Yorkstone paving from Alfred Gelder Street through to the A63 (Castle Street). Footways on Bowlalley Lane and Sliver Street were also reconstructed as part of the scheme; this also included the installation of a carriageway speed table and new gullies at Bowlalley Lane.

SCOPE DELIVERED

  • The existing paving was carefully taken up and taken to Hull City Council’s store for re-use.
  • Works required maintaining access to properties, providing a safe route for pedestrians in a busy area of the city centre while working under the one-way system lane closure.
  • The scheme also included the installation of the Heald bollard safety system at the entrance to Silver Street. The Matador sliding bollard system prevents unwarranted vehicle access while being able to be opened remotely to allow authorised access. The carriageway around the bollards was also raised and reconstructed and this included the installation of new blocks.
  • Cycle stands were also installed to various areas, as were litter bins and renewed signage.
  • New client supplied cube seats and bollards were also installed in Trinity Square outside of Hull Minster.
