Today we presented local modern Pentathlete Josh Hood with a cheque in respect of our sponsorship for Josh’s equipment which will contribute to the repair of two of his fencing epees.
Josh started the year with the four ranking events finishing 3rd, 1st, 1st and 2nd respectively. This ensured that he is now ranked the No.1 Youth Pentathlete in Great Britain as well as the reigning Under 19 British Champion.
His first International event of the year saw him compete in the Leira International European Cup in Portugal where he claimed the bronze medal. This led into the European Championships in Lithuania where he podiumed with another bronze. He returned home to England to finish his studies at Hartpury College and has been awarded Distinction*, Distinction, Distinction in his Level 3 BTec in Sport ( PE & Coaching ). At the Hartpury Awards Ceremony he won the Pentathlete of the Year Award and was named as Hartpury Apprentice of the Year out of the whole College.
He then travelled to Bulgaria for the World Championships where he won a fantastic silver medal ending what has been another successful campaign. He has since been informed that he has been accepted into Bath University to study his degree in Sports Performance from September.
From us all at PBS we would like to congratulate Josh on his achievements so far and we wish him every success for the future.
